Experience

Everything is always, probably, possible.

Experience comes in many forms, something of which I have much of! From years in the radio industry, to experience in photography, writing, and – of course – web design. I have a well-rounded background that has gotten me involved in many valuable projects over the years. I never have found a project that I am unwilling to take on.

Web Design & Development

While working in web design is a lot of behind-the-scenes work, I still love being creative with it. For this reason, I have specialized in front-end development, and am knowledgeable in languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and C++ among others. I also have experience with many CMS, creating websites for nearly any purpose.

If there is one thing about this business I truly love, it’s that I am able to bring anything to life online, creating a beautiful space for anyone to have.

Since 2013, I have designed a number of websites including blogs, company websites, non-profit hubs, e-commerce platforms, and portfolios. This has given me a wide array of experience building an online presence from the ground up. This includes building websites totally from scratch and my own HTML, to working with CMS to create a space that is easily editable for clients.

I truly feel everyone has to have an online appearance, and if I can make this place a little more lively, I am happy to do so.

Photography

In my career, I have had the opportunity to work on many projects involving photography – including creating stock images for several companies. Capturing images from all over the country, this led to me creating a website of my own to display the work.

With hundreds of followers on this website, it has become one of the most engaged projects I have worked on.

Having started with photography in 2012, it has been something of mine that became self-taught. Without structured classed – more than an intro class in college – I taught myself what worked, what didn’t, what I liked, and what I thought was bad. It has been an experience that has led me all over the country, multiple climates, capturing anything I think looks good.

Rarely in my work do people appear, more than the occasional crowd scene. This has always been purposeful, and something I always thought added to the serenity of the photos, along with my obsession for symmetry.

E-Commerce

In today’s world, e-commerce is something that nearly everyone uses on a daily basis. From books, to groceries, to experiences – the world is now ordered online. With experience creating e-stores for small businesses, and personal shops, I have experience in both the design and backend portion of e-stores.

My first adventure in this field was designing a test e-store for a gardening outlet. This included setting up the entire shop for seasonal plants, annuals, perennials, shrubs, and bundles. This website was run off of a WordPress child theme, and operated via WooCommerce.

Later on, I also created a test website for a musical instrument outlet store. I mocked this site to recreate the actual feel of an online store.

With these experiences, and then some, I have become well-versed in both designing pages from nothing via HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – and from using templates such as WordPress.

Digital Imaging

I never really knew how much I loved digital imaging, or how enjoyable and useful it could really be.

I started off designing images that would go with the early book I wrote, using objects to create images – like paperclips turned into clouds. Over the years my designs changed to that of the world around me, and what is going through my head at that moment.

I know use this skill all over the web pages I design, and even as some illustrations for works I write. Sometimes the medium is easier to display emotion than even words can.

Education

Graduation in 2012 from The University of Akron with a Bachelor’s in Radio and Television communication and in 2015 with a Master’s in Communication Theory and Analytics, I have a background in not only the technical side of design, but also the messages they present.

Over the years, I have had many opportunities to hone my communication skills and techniques. This included both in the online space, and in intrapersonal communication.

With any good website and design also carries the burden of making sure it presents the message you want. No design is a good design unless the site’s visitor knows the information you’re trying to tell them. With my background, I am well-versed in creating a great line of communication aimed directly at your audience.
